A FEW WORDS ON STABILIZED WOOD

The stabilized rod handle and reel seat blanks we offer have been treated using a high pressure system that forces liquid acrylic resins throughout the entire blank. The blanks are then heat cured and dried during the final finishing process. Just a few of the many advantages using stabilized wood include:

*** Resists cracking, checking, swelling, shrinking, color change & fading.***
*** Impervious to water, oils and weather.***
*** Machines beautifully, sands without raising the grain of the wood, and polishes to a high luster.***

Highly figured or burled woods may warp slightly during the stabilization process. Your rod handle and reel seat blanks have been cut to a slight oversize to allow for this. Please let us know if you have any problems.

All measurements on our pieces are approximate, please email us if you have any questions about a purchase.

Reel Seat Blanks: All blanks are sized between .90” (7/8”) up to 1.0” (1”) square. All are about 4.25” (4 ¼”) in length.

Rod Handle Blanks: Sizes range from 1.25” (1 ¼”) up to 1.50 (1 ½”) square. Lengths vary and are stated with each piece.

Each blank or group pictured is the piece you are purchasing. They have been sanded on 2 sides with 180 grit sandpaper and then sprayed with 2 coats of clear enamel to bring out the grain and color for photography. Please e-mail us with any questions or suggestions you might have.
